Just hours after the Creek Will Rise singer took the stage at CMA Fest, the singer was involved in a fatal car accident that killed an elderly woman.

TMZ reports Conner was behind the wheel of a Chevy Silverado driving north on 3rd Avenue in Nashville when it hit 77-year-old Dorothy Robbins.

The local resident was walking across a marked crosswalk around 7:30 pm when Conner’s car struck her. Once paramedics arrived, she was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center, but unfortunately, didn’t make it.

Conner showed no signs that he was injured, leading the police to speculate the cause of the crash.

Authorities believe the singer failed to yield to the pedestrian. However, nothing has been confirmed as an official investigation is still underway. No charges have been filed at this time.

A source close to Connor told the publication that it was solely an accident, one that was not the result of the singer being under the influence of any drugs or interacting with his phone when he was driving.

The singer’s attorney spoke on his behalf within a statement released to TMZ, stating: "On June 8th, Mr. Smith was involved in a car accident that tragically claimed a life.”
