Every star backing Donald Trump in condemning LA protesters amid ICE raids
As the protests against immigration raids in Los Angeles continue this week, some celebrities have hit out against demonstrators, and praised President Trump
As demonstrations continue to spring up across the country, sparked by the intensifying protests in Los Angeles, some celebrities have come out in support of President Trump - and have criticised those taking to the streets.
The protests in LA began last Friday after raids were made by ICE as part of Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration. Most recently, Trump has defended his decision to send in 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to “liberate” the city. However, Governor Gavin Newsom has condemned Trump and accused him of “pulling a military dragnet” across the city.
Protests have now spread across the US, with demonstrations being held in Chicago, Atlanta, New York and Seattle. A slew of celebrities have spoken out in support of the protesters and against ICE, including Mark Ruffalo, Doechii, Tom Morello, Eva Longoria, Finneas, and Chrissy Tiegen.
However, others have publicly criticised the protesters and stood by Trump. But what exactly has been said?
Rob Schneider
Actor and comedian Rob Schneider, known for SNL, Grown Ups, and Big Stan, shared a series of posts condemning the protests. In one post, he wrote: “New Law…Make it ILLEGAL and a FEDERAL CRIME for Protesters to cover their faces.”
In another he said: “California has a reckless and feckless Governor. Gavin Newsom has tried his very best to ruin the former Golden State with policies that bankrupt the state and make it a crime filled homeless encampment.”
Schneider also replied to a post that referred to Newsom’s use of the National Guard to aid with Covid testing several years ago. The actor said: “Tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about Gavin Newsom. OF COURSE Gavin Newsom has NO QUALMS with his dictatorial powers for a BAD FLU but when it comes to ANARCHY and RIOTS, Gavhole PREFERS to see California BURN.”
Jon Voight
Actor Jon Voight, known for his roles in Coming Home, Ali, and The Champ, shared a video on X aimed at Governor Gavin Newsom. He said: “You’re a fool blaming Trump, what are you doing for this destruction, these animals destroying Los Angeles? Are you there talking calmly with them?”
Voight continued: “You fool, they would burn you down like they’re burning the cars and the American flag, with no regard for humanity. This is not about Trump, this is about protecting people from these animals and criminals trying to destroy us.”
Roseanne Barr
Actress and comedian Roseanne Barr hit out at Newsom and LA mayor Karen Bass on X. She wrote: “People STILL defending @cagov [sic]and Karen Bass after the single worst 1-2 punch of political careers in American history is the funniest s--- I’ve ever seen. Commies can never say “oh man we were wrong” they’ll bury their heads in the sand until 70 million more people die. See a therapist or something for Christ sakes.”
Barr also reshared a post from someone calling for the national guard helicopters to fly “en masse” through downtown LA, “landing on streets they prime with tear gas and then throwing zip ties on every single rioter”.
Joe Exotic
Joe Exotic, the star of Tiger King who is currently in prison, shared a video of a van covered in graffiti and captioned it: “Now this is bulls---.... When they start destroying people's stuff that has nothing to do with their voice being heard it's time to get the DOJ to arrest them and trade places with me. Trust me it'll change their attitude.”
Exotic, who is serving his 21-year sentence at FMC Fort Worth, added: “But you know they will be home way sooner than me and I didn't hurt anyone or anything.” He said that Trump “definitely knows how to change the tides” and wrote: “I just pray it doesn't get worse and business suffer by looting and arson from these fools.”
Zachary Levi
Zachary Levi, the actor and producer known for his role in Shazam!, reshared a reply from an X user to Newsom which read: “Are you still playing around on X? You have a lot of problems in Los Angeles. Perhaps you can attend to that. Put the phone down.”
He also posted that he had left LA a while ago, writing: “I’ve been in Texas for 8 years now. I love California. Grew up there most of my life. But the lack of strong leadership and gross mismanagement are destroying it. The writing’s been on the wall for a really long time. It’s tragic.”
