Hoda Kotb post-Today show earnings could skyrocket to ‘way more’ than $7M paycheck

Hoda Kotb may have officially departed the Today Show, but exiting the show may have set her up to take home an even bigger paycheck.

Kotb announced in September that she would leave the show in the new year. She finally did so in the beginning of January, with her former co-hosts still questioning her about possibly being “forced” out instead of leaving willingly.

Since then, she has announced her future plans, including some occasional appearances at her old stomping grounds, as well as new ventures.

As it turns out, the new gigs could wind up seeing her making significantly more money in the end than if she had stayed as a full-time host on the morning show.

Speaking to Us Weekly, a source shared that the 60-year-old could stand to take home a much larger paycheck now that she’s free to do more projects.

“She’s going to earn way more than she did at the Today Show,” a source told the publication. “Now that she’s not full-time at NBC, Hoda’s going to be working with brands and can be paid to endorse them.”

“She also could make several hundred thousand dollars for speaking engagements on subjects like, ‘changing your life at 60.’”

It was previously revealed that Kotb was still a part of the NBC family, having singed on to be a special correspondent for both Today and its parent company, which includes her helping cover the next two Olympics and appearing on The Today Show to do stories she’s “interested in,” and will likely appear on the show “around 10 times” a year.

She also announced during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show that she was starting a wellness app and company.

“[It will] involve retreats and a podcast and all kinds of things that we can get together [and do]...It’s not like going to Mexico with your girls, which is fun, but something that when you leave, you’ll go like, ‘Oh my gosh, I feel transformed. I feel different.”

As for a replacement for Kotb, Craig Melvin has stepped into her role opposite Savannah Guthrie.

For the hour she co-hosted with Jenna Bush Hager, there has currently been a rotation of celebrity guest hosts until a new one is determined.

The Daily Mail has reported that the network is looking to offer the job to Scarlett Johansson, and is looking to offer her a $5 million contract.
