Jeopardy! fans go wild as they realize contestant is NBC legend's sister
Jeopardy! viewers were left in shock this week after realizing that one contestant is the sister of an NBC national political correspondent.
Jeopardy! fans were in for a surprise when they discovered that one of this week's contestants has a famous sibling who is an NBC national political correspondent. In the June 16 TV episode, Jeopardy! featured three brainy contenders.
These included Sarah Cox, a chief of staff hailing from Austin, Texas; Tom Thriveni, a writer based in Los Angeles, California; and Katie Kornacki, an English professor from Hartford, Connecticut.
Viewers were taken aback to learn that Katie is none other than the sister of NBC's renowned Steve Kornacki.
Although Katie didn't clinch the top prize, she wowed the audience with her formidable trivia prowess across various tough categories, ranging from World Geography to Parenthetical Song Titles.
Social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, lit up with fan reactions upon recognizing Katie, reports Mirror US.
One fan exclaimed: "Just now picking up that Katie is Steve Kornacki's sister," accompanied by a gif of Steve exclaiming, "That was a lot to take in just now."
During her introduction on the show, Katie expressed her dream of owning a vintage shop.
Playing off this, a viewer humorously speculated: "In her retail score - might Katie have some items from her brother Steve?' This was his coffee cup from Election Night 2016.'" Another fan eagerly responded: "Man, I'd buy it!!"
Katie's brother Steve is a national political correspondent for NBC News and has been with the network for over ten years. The 45-year-old journalist also serves as the chief data analyst for both NBC News and NBC Sports.
