Wisconsin couple arrested for plotting sexual assault on their newborn before birth

Two parents are accused of conspiring to sexually abuse their two-month-old daughter even before her birth, according to police reports.

Skyler Klassen, 22, and Madison Bishop, 21, are currently detained by the police and face criminal charges after authorities in Madison, Wisconsin, reportedly discovered child sexual abuse material on the man's phone.

A criminal complaint reveals that at the time of his arrest, Klassen had an outstanding warrant related to child sexual abuse material in Nevada.

Police allege that Klassen confessed to sexually abusing Bishop's newborn daughter. The suspected assault is believed to have occurred on April 7.

While examining Klassen's phone, officers allegedly found images of the baby's genitals and a video showing the infant being digitally penetrated.

As per the complaint, viewed by People and local media outlet WKOW, police also unearthed explicit text messages between Klassen and Bishop prior to the baby's birth, suggesting they were already plotting to sexually abuse her, reports the Mirror US.

Prosecutors claim the duo continued to discuss their intentions towards the infant and frequently shared child sexual abuse material.

Klassen was apprehended in Nevada and extradited to Wisconsin on April 9, while Bishop was taken into custody on April 15.

In their incident report, the City of Madison Police Department detailed the arrest of Klassen stating, "Detectives with the Madison Police Department's Special Victims Unit (SVU) received a tip that a male was currently in possession of child pornography. Madison Police were able to contact the male and take him into custody."

The police added, "During the investigation, additional evidence was recovered and also information relating to a sexual assault of a child.

"Skyler Klassen, 22, was arrested for 1st degree sexual assault of a child, sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography."

Regarding the charges, online court records reveal that Klassen is accused of first-degree child sexual assault, incest, four counts of child exploitation, and four counts of possession of child pornography.

There are also charges against Bishop, who faces one count of failure to act/sexual assault of a child and one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree child sexual assault.

Both individuals are currently incarcerated at the Dane County Jail in Madison. A preliminary hearing for Bishop is set for April 30, while Klassen's preliminary hearing has been waived.
