Woman reveals she died for six minutes and 'Heaven' is not what it seems
A fleeting encounter with the afterlife has left one Redditor with a story that challenges our deepest beliefs.
A Redditor claimed "heaven isn't what we think it is" after explaining how they died for six minutes, leading to a brief taste of the afterlife.
Their heart stopped for six minutes in 2003 when they were fifteen years old. It happened while walking home from the bus station on a normal afternoon. Unexpectedly, a wave of nausea hit somewhere in the four blocks between where they got off the bus and their front door.
There was no warning sign and the symptoms came on quickly. They had eaten a meal of marinara sauce and Bosco sticks, which they had eaten innumerable times throughout high school, and they had felt good all day. The chilly sweat came on before there was time to think of alternative reasons.

A strange flutter in the chest then appeared. Their heart had gone into what was subsequently determined to be a ventricular fibrillation episode.
When emergency personnel got there, they discovered that user Dr. Terrifying's heart had stopped beating, making them, by medical standards, dead. In the process of transporting the unconscious body to the hospital, the paramedics used a defibrillator to revive the patient.
This sparked a terrifying, weeks-long journey through the American healthcare system, which finally resulted in an ablation, pacemaker placement, and a crippling debt that their family now has to pay. Thankfully, their heart made it through.
"And thank f--- it is, because what I learned that day has taught me never to thank God for anything.
Their soul, as they describe it, left the physical world and entered what can only be called the hereafter during those six minutes while paramedics battled to bring their body back while it was being taken across the city.
They now wish they hadn't found the disturbing truths about the cosmos that they discovered there. They think that by sharing this experience, humanity would be better prepared for whatever comes beyond death.

"It began with light. Blinding, white, pervasive. It bathed me, calmed me. It was everything they tell you about. Beatific, welcoming, the stuff of spiritual experiences," the user wrote.
"I had the distinct feeling of ascent, like the light was lifting me skyward. I passed through several sets of gates, which my dizzied consciousness hardly registered. Upon reflection, I don’t believe they were physical in any sense, and yet I recall the feeling of admittance, as if they might’ve prevented me from rising had they remained closed."
Either way, they reached a dimension beyond, a world beyond the limits of reality. The nature of the area seemed to defy interpretation or logic, and it only made sense while they were in it.
Since the astral realm is intangible and cannot be fully translated into human knowledge, they came to believe that a physical being cannot fully understand it.
They were left with strong sensations rather than distinct visuals. They weren't by themselves. When they arrived, they were surrounded by several life forces. They initially thought these presences were angels because of their Christian upbringing. They held out what might be called the spiritual equivalent of open arms in their non-physical form, anticipating a warm embrace.
