Panic as Putin stages nuclear war games in chilling warning to West

Each of the three or four nuclear warheads that the RS-24 Yars missile normally carries has a yield estimated to be between 100 and 300 kilotons, making each warhead seven to 20 times more potent than the bomb unleashed on Hiroshima.

Days after NATO nations decided to increase their defense budgets, Russia is putting on nuclear war exercises as an open warning to the West.

In the Altai region of Siberia, Vladimir Putin dispatched his nuclear-capable Yars missile systems on a war patrol.

Each of the three or four nuclear warheads that the RS-24 Yars missile normally carries has a yield estimated to be between 100 and 300 kilotons, making each warhead seven to 20 times more potent than the bomb unleashed on Hiroshima.

They may strike both the US and Europe because of their 7,500-mile range. They presently make up the majority of the Russian strategic nuclear force's ground-based component.

The exercises were conducted "to check the readiness of military personnel, weapons, and equipment for long-term duty in field conditions," according to a statement from the defense ministry's TV channel, Zvezda.

"Soldiers are engineering field positions, organizing camouflage and combat security," the statement clarified.

With backup troops clearing "special equipment from areas of simulated chemical contamination," they were practicing their counterattacks against "enemy scouts and saboteurs."

To combat the threat, the NATO group decided to boost defense spending a few days prior to the war simulations.

Russia has already called the surge in spending "frenzied." The 5% increase, which President Donald Trump welcomed as a "big win for Europe and... Western civilization," is the "talk of the town," according to foreign minister Sergey Lavrov.

To defend its significant rise in military expenditures, the Kremlin has already charged NATO with escalating militarization and demonizing Russia as a "fiend of hell."

Russia rejects any plans to attack a NATO state, despite allocating over 40% of its budget this year to defense and security.

Citing what they described as Russia's long-term threat and the need to bolster military and civil resilience, allies decided to increase their collective spending target over the ensuing 10 years.

In response to purported ceasefire violations in Israel's battle with Iran, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte even praised Trump as "Daddy" for unleashing the F-bomb live on television.

"Sometimes daddy has to use strong words," said former Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, in a compliment to the US president.

The remark was made as the 32-nation alliance's leaders convened in The Hague to decide on a new defense budget objective of 5% of GDP.
