Dave Portnoy makes his feelings perfectly clear on Rafael Devers trade
Dave Portnoy made his thoughts known on the Rafael Devers trade yet again, days after he unleashed a lengthy tirade on the Boston Red Sox.
Dave Portnoy has made it clear what he thinks of the Boston Red Sox after the organization's decision to trade star Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants.
The Red Sox got off to a rocky start in the 2025 MLB season, prompting early calls for Boston to part ways with the disgruntled star. Once the franchise traded Devers, Portnoy was upset with the return the franchise received, believing the team had already given up on the season.
However, after the Red Sox's 2-0 win over the New York Yankees over the weekend, Portnoy offered a new stance, specifically as it pertains to the game plan. In particular, the Barstool boss suggested that Boston's aces continue to blank opponents, regardless of how unlikely that would be.

"I guess the Red Sox strategy is just never to give up any runs ever again so who needs Devers anyway," Portnoy wrote on X after the Red Sox's most recent win over the Yankees.
This is not the first time Portnoy has spoken out regarding the Red Sox and Devers. When the trade of the star was first announced, the 48-year-old made his thoughts very clean ron social media, expressing his displeasure with the decision.
“Rafael Devers joins the ever growing list of Red Sox stars who leave town in their prime. What a joke,” he began.
"I'm watching the US Open. And the Red Sox trade Raffy Devers. They pull him off the plane. Stick him in a car, send him on his way. and that's the end. Now listen, Rafael Devers is a d-------. He's a f------ d-------. There's no doubt about that."
He added: "This season has sucked for the Red Sox until the last f------ week and two weeks they start playing good baseball, they sweep the Yankees… we're finally looking up, above .500 … and you f------ trade him for a bag of baseballs and f------ a couple no-name pitchers."
Portnoy also was very critical of the Red Sox organization for trading away Devers in what he felt was just a financial move for the club. He also added that the team didn't seem to want to be competitive, especially as the Red Sox were beginning to get their stride.
Don't Miss
"NOW? You're playing good baseball and now you don't want to at least see what can happen this year if you keep putting the pedal to the metal?
"The pitching's starting to come around … let him be our d------- DH for this season. This is a money deal, not a winning baseball deal. The Red Sox don't make winning baseball deals very often anymore," he concluded.
Devers' time in Boston quickly became numbered after the franchise signed third baseman Alex Bregman away from the Houston Astros. At the time of the trade, Devers was batting .272 with 15 home runs and a .905 OPS.
