Five-time major winner Brooks Koepka let his frustration get the better of him, smashing a tee box before bowing out of LIV Golf's recent Dallas event. Koepka's season has been a rollercoaster ride, especially when it comes to the majors.

He posted a five-over at Augusta National, missing the cut - a disappointment he's experienced three times in his Masters career. In an unprecedented turn of events for the seasoned golfer, Koepka - who had received a stern talking-to from his coach prior to the U.S. Open - missed the cut at two consecutive majors as he faltered at Quail Hollow.

His nine-over performance at the PGA Championship saw him exiting after just two days, followed by an inconsistent display at Oakmont. Despite upping his game for the U.S. Open, the American could only manage a 12th-place finish while J.J. Spaun claimed victory.

His patchy form has spilled over into his LIV Golf performances, and he vented his frustration in a manner reminiscent of Stephan Jaeger's earlier outburst at the Rocket Classic.

While playing the ninth hole at Maridoe Golf Club on Friday, having already completed eight, Koepka's drive went awry. In a fit of anger, he slammed his club into the ground and smashed a tee box marker as his seven-over score began to weigh heavily on him.

Immediately following this display, Koepka pulled out of LIV Dallas. Citing illness as the reason for his early departure, Luis Carrera stepped in to replace Koepka for the rest of the round.

While there's a chance Koepka might return this weekend, any scores he posts will only count towards the team total. Koepka's season has been marked by inconsistency, excelling in ball-striking areas such as driving distance and greens in regulation but faltering in his short game, with scrambling and putting being particular weak points.

Despite his prowess off the tee, Koepka has only managed to secure two top-10 finishes in LIV Golf events this year. He currently ranks 14th in the LIV Golf Individual Standings, and his team, Smash GC, holds the seventh spot in the Team competition.

At the U.S. Open, Koepka opened up about his season's challenges, expressing his own exasperation with his performance and even hinting that his family preferred to keep their distance.

DON'T MISS

"I would say from the first weekend in April until about last week, you didn't want to be around me," Koepka admitted to the press. "It drove me nuts. It ate at me. I haven't been happy.

"It's been very irritating. It's a lot- I mean, I had to apologize- I've apologized to Rick, Pete, Jeff, Blake, my wife, my son, everybody. I wouldn't have wanted to be around me."

At the halfway point of the second round at LIV Dallas, Harold Varner III is leading with a score of four-under. He's one stroke ahead of 4Aces captain and teammate Dustin Johnson, Abraham Ancer, Patrick Reed, Bryson DeChambeau, and Bubba Watson.

Koepka was far from the lead when he withdrew. His exit will undoubtedly spark rumors about his health and performance as we approach the final major of the season next month - the Open Championship.
