Owen Jenner’s dad has posted a photo of his son following his tragic death in Monday's Oulton Park Superbike crash.

The 21-year-old was killed after suffering a catastrophic head injury in an 11-bike pile-up. Jenner was one of two victims in the horror incident. Shane Richardson, 29, died from severe chest injuries while he was being transported to Royal Stoke University Hospital. For Richardson's partner it is a horrible twist of fate.

Both riders had been treated on the track, and Jenner was subsequently taken to the on-site medical facility. Earlier in the day, Jenner had posted a tribute to his father on his birthday. Proud Michael Jenner was seen pictured with his son as they lifted two golden trophies.

Michael is now heartbroken after losing his son. On Facebook, he posted a photo of Owen holding the family cat. The caption read: "The love of his life."

A pile-up on the first corner of the maiden lap of the British Superbike Championship saw 11 riders fall off their vehicles. Jenner and Richardson were killed. Eleven others were treated for their injuries. One of those, Tom Tunstall, remains in a critical condition with significant back and abdominal injuries. The 47-year-old is being treated at Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Freddie Barnes and Morgan McLaren-Wood are two riders in the race who have since spoken out. Barnes revealed that he had been waiting in hospital to be seen, but confirmed that he is okay.

My condolences go out to Owen and Shane's family and friends. I'm absolutely devastated, I have no words. Ride on in paradise boys. Keep fighting Tom and my thoughts are with other riders involved.”

McLaren-Wood, who also received treatment on the track, added: “Struggling to find the words for what happened today. Rest in peace, Shane and Owen. My heart goes out to both of their families during this heartbreaking time.”

A post on the Facebook page of Lewis Jones, who took part but was not injured, read: “On behalf of Lewis and the team we wanted to reach out to let everyone know Lewis is fine.
