Tom Brady set for a ride with NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson during Indy 500
Tom Brady is set for a special role at the Indianapolis 500 later this month, with the legendary NFL quarterback set to ride with Jimmie Johnson
NFL legend Tom Brady is set to ride in the “Fastest Seat in Sports” while being driven by NASCAR Cup Series icon Jimmie Johnson ahead of the Indianapolis 500.
The 109th Indianapolis 500 takes place later this month at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Kyle Larson looking to the double. Brady will be escorted by Johnson, a NASCAR legend who was named 2022 Indy500 Rookie of the Year.
Brady is a seven-time Super Bowl champion, so it’s perhaps fitting that he is being driven by seven-time Cup Series champion Johnson. Fellow NFL legends Rob Gronkowski, Brady's former teammate, and Michael Strahan are also set to be in attendance.

Brady is considered the greatest player in NFL history having guided the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Lombardi Trophy, while also winning three MVP awards. He is the latest in a long list of esteemed guests to sit in the “IndyCar Fastest Seat in Sports,” too.
The high-speed thrill saw World Series champion Alex Rodriguez open the season in St. Petersburg, while the likes of Lady Gaga and Jon Bon Jovi have also enjoyed the experience.
Johnson drove for Hendrick Motorsports for 19 seasons of his NASCAR career. After he drives Brady, the Legacy Motor Club co-owner will fly to Charlotte and make his 700th career series start in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
For two seasons, Johnson competed in IndyCar for Chip Ganassi Racing. He qualified in the fourth row at the 2022 Indianapolis 500.
Johnson is the only racing driver to be named AP Male Athlete of the Year (2009), receiving the honor in 2009. Brady achieved the accomplishment in 2007.
“I love the Indy 500,” Johnson said. “There is an energy and excitement around the ‘500’ that is unlike anything I have experienced before. Certainly, pre-race ceremonies are the ultimate racing experience that I’ve had outside of the car.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of the program and to see the stands full one more time. I’m extremely honored to come back and do it and to be able to also share this experience with another seven-time champion.”
The 109th edition of the Indianapolis 500 takes place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 25.
