Coco Gauff celebrated her maiden French Open title on the Parisian clay, surprising Aryna Sabalenka after an intense final that featured scores of 6-7, 6-2, 6-4.

British tennis star Naomi Broady, providing analysis for BBC Radio 5 Live, pointed out the touching celebration between Gauff and her parents. "It is the reaction of her mum and dad as she makes her way up to the box," said Broady.

"They are the first people she sees. Her mum was ready and waiting, her dad sprinted down the stairs."

Speaking with former pro Sloane Stephens, Gauff expressed gratitude towards her family. "You guys keep me grounded and give me the belief," she said.

"Thanks, and I love you guys. To my brothers at home, you are the reason I do this, and you inspire me more than you know."

Gauff's road to Roland Garros glory was not without its hiccups; following a quarterfinal appearance in Melbourne, she experienced early exits in Doha and Dubai. However, Gauff bounced back through solid performances in tournaments like Indian Wells, reclaiming her status as America's top-ranked player.

"Thanks to everyone who made this tournament happen, and thanks to you guys!" Gauff continued. "You really helped me today, you were cheering for me so hard. I'm not sure what I do to deserve so much love from the French crowd, but merci beaucoup.

"Honestly, I didn't think I could do it, but I'm going to quote (rapper) Tyler the Creator right here and he said, 'If I ever told you I had a doubt inside me, I must be lying.' I was lying to myself, so thanks to Tyler, and thanks to you guys."

Gauff reached the French Open final in 2022, only to meet her match against Iga Swiatek, who swept through the match, snagging one of three consecutive titles with ease.

Sabalenka lauded her rival. "Coco congrats, in these tough conditions you were a better player than me," she said. "Well done on a great two weeks, congrats on the second Grand Slam, well deserved.

"You are a fighter, congrats to you and your team. Thanks to you guys for the atmosphere, I really enjoyed every second out here playing in front of you all."
