Ugly Betty star hit with brutal 9-word question by cops as he ‘pulls celebrity card’

Ugly Betty actor Eric Mabius name-dropped his Hollywood roles during a run-in with Florida police only to be met with a brutal 9-word question.

Eric Mabius, best known for his role in Ugly Betty, found himself on the wrong side of real-life law enforcement last week after an incident outside a Florida bar led to his arrest.

According to police body cam footage obtained by TMZ, Mabius attempted to lean on his Hollywood resume during the arrest, reminding officers he’s played law enforcement characters in several TV shows and movies.

“You know what’s so funny, I play characters like you in movies all the time. I do ... I get paid money,” Mabius told deputies from the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.

The officers, however, didn’t appear impressed by his comment. One deputy responded with a sharp nine-word question: “None of your movies taught you how to fight?”

The remark came after deputies noted Mabius had a visible injury to his face, including a prominent black eye.

The 53-year-old actor was arrested for battery and resisting a law enforcement officer without violence.

The incident reportedly started after a heated altercation inside a local bar, though specific details about what led to the confrontation have not been released.

Mabius has played a number of roles in law enforcement on-screen, including a town sheriff in the Hallmark film Welcome to Christmas and appearances on shows like Chicago Fire, Blue Bloods, and CSI: Miami.

While the actor’s comment seemed to reference those roles, it didn’t appear to have any influence on how the arrest proceeded. He was taken into custody and placed in the back of a squad car.

Mabius has not publicly commented on the incident.

As of now, there’s been no update on whether formal charges will be pursued.
