The former Man v. Food host assured followers of his appreciation and offered hopeful insight.
“Because nobody knows the future, I just wanted to once again tell all those who have been so kind and supportive of me and the shows I make and have made, I am forever grateful and love you all so much. If I’m granted the opportunity to come out of this, I promise I’ll continue to work my tail off to give you my all.”
The Brooklyn native, who’s long been a passionate supporter of English football club Tottenham Hotspur, closed off with a note.
“Blessed to live the life I have and yes, blessed to live long enough to see my beloved @spursofficial lift a European trophy. If ya have a second, lift your boy up in your prayers. See ya on the other side.”
Richman gained widespread fame during his four-year stint hosting Man v. Food, where he tackled outrageous eating challenges.
He stepped away from the show in 2012, citing concerns about his physical health and personal well-being.
He lost 70 pounds and adopted a healthier lifestyle after a turning point moment when he no longer recognized himself in the mirror.

In 2022, Richman revealed a near-death experience after contracting a life-threatening MRSA infection from an inflamed mustache follicle.
“My lip inflated like a banana,” he recalled during a podcast appearance.
Doctors later explained the infection had developed in a region known as the “danger triangle” of the face, where surface infections can reach the brain.
Though that scare passed, Richman said it changed his outlook: “Gratitude is the attitude... every day above ground is a gift.”
