Fans of American Idol are divided over Carrie Underwood's strange critique of a Top 5 contestant.
The Top 5 - Slater Nalley, Breanna Nix, John Foster, Jamal Roberts, and Thunderstorm Artis - had one more chance to impress fans and judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Underwood for a spot in the finale next week.
However, viewers of the hit ABC singing competition were already fuming about having to sit through what many have dubbed a "boring" second Disney night when Jamal took the stage to sing Ain't No Mountain High Enough and got some harsh criticism from the Before He Cheats singer.

Bryan mentioned that he was stunned by the "ride" the contestant has taken them on over the last couple of weeks, while Richie joked that he had an ability to "Jamal-erize" everything.
Underwoood, on the other hand, commended Jamal's performance but said she wanted to see him move around more.

Some fans on Reddit noticed Jamal's less-than-enthusiastic presense on stage before Underwood even made her comment, writing: "I've noticed Jamal hasnt been moving around the stage very much the past few performances. I wonder if he injured himself??"
Another agreed: "He seems exhausted."
Overall, though, the comment divided fans, with one person writing: "LOVE jamal by far more than anyone. But Carrie ain’t wrong. Breanna fans can shut up now saying she only critiques her haha."
Another added: "So we’re gonna complain about Jamal not moving enough when he works the stage more than anyone else left."
A third simply fumed: "Shut up Carrie."
However, some were supportive of Underwood's claims, with one arguing: "Why didn’t Carrie tell John and the others to move around or do more? Bare Necessities is a happy, fun song that he made boring."

Despite Jamal's motionless performance, another fan couldn't help pointing out that it was still more energetic than his fellow contestants', sahring: "Finally! The energy is up!! Thank you Jamal!!!"
Before Jamal took to the stage, tons of fans complained about the boring song choices and the overall theme of the night.
One fan pointed out: "I feel like this is way too late in the season for Disney night, the finale is next week I want to hear them sing better songs!"
Another penned: "I wish we didn't have to sit through two nights of Disney," as a third said: "The Disney theme is soooo stupid."
A fourth fumed: "we need a new themed night that’s never been done yet," as a fifth added: "All of these songs are so comical and do nothing for anyone...."
A sixth shared: "Three performances in and this is the most low energy Top 5 night I could imagine. My kingdom for someone to do something different, hit an interesting note, fall down, anything."
Fans were even more bored as Slater sang You've Got A Friend In Me from Toy Story, a song every agreed is always sang during Disney week.
One person raged: "Someone's always gotta sing You've Got A Friend In Me," as a second said: "I say this every year but You Got A Friend in Me needs to go on the ban list.. it is soo boring."
Yet another angry viewer wrote: "Even Luke called out how overdone you got a friend in me is."
