American Idol winner Jamal Roberts hasn't received his $250,000 prize money yet

Two weeks after being crowned the winner of American Idol, Jamal Roberts said he hasn't received his prize money yet.

American Idol winner Jamal Roberts said he hasn't received his prize money yet - but already knows what he will do with it.

The 27-year-old was crowned the Season 23 winner in the May 18 finale, with fellow finalists John Foster coming in second and Brianna Nix placing third.

Fans praised Jamal for his victory on the show, with one describing it as "one of the best choices of winners ever."

But two weeks on, Jamal has revealed he hasn't received his $250,000 yet - even though he said he isn't planning to make any "big splurges" when he gets it.

He said, "I haven't received it. Don't know where it is. I'm interested in knowing."

Talking about his plans to US Weekly, the musician, who has three young daughers - Harmoni, Lyrik and Gianna - said, "I'm gonna put it in the bank."

He said he still can't believe he won the competition as he explained, "I say it to myself every day, 'Did I just, you know, win American Idol?' I asked myself that. I'm like, 'Did I actually win American Idol?'

"It feels like it didn't happen. It's always [been] a dream and now it's a reality. I'm like, 'Do I keep dreaming?' I'm definitely excited that America chose me."

Jamal's win was one that made some fans extremely happy, as they celebrated on social media.

"Your American Idol!!!! WELL DESERVED!!!" one said, while another wrote, "Congratulations!!! I'm so happy for my guy!!! First I have watched a season of American Idol in a long time!!! It was GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!!"

"JAMAL WON AMERICAN IDOL AS HE SHOULD GOD IS GOOD PERIOD. OKAY goodnight," someone else added.

His victory is historic as Jamal the second Black man to win American Idol, some 22 years after Ruben Studdard won the show in 2003.
