Carrie Underwood is allegedly making an unexpected career move as her and Jelly Roll are seriously considering teaming up on a song, according to an American Idol insider.

Fans have been asking for the collaboration between the two beloved country stars online, and the source suggests the fans may get what they want.

On a Facebook fan page for Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, one user posted: “I think Jelly Roll and Carrie Underwood should make a song together,” with others adding “That would be awesome!” and “Jelly Roll would be perfect with anyone he did a duet with!!”

According to the source, Carrie “loves Jelly Roll” and “having him on the show has been such a blessing because he is such a bright light.”

The insider also shared: “She’s such a fan of his music too, she thinks he’s so talented and loves how their voices sound together.”

The source added: “When fans started saying they should collab, that actually had a big impact. It put it out there and now they are seriously talking about doing just that.”

Still, the project is “in the early stages,” the source explained. “The logistics have to be worked out,” they said, including “choosing a song, whether to make it original or a cover, [and] how the split would go financially. Those things have to be decided so this isn’t an overnight thing.”

“It’s kind of a no-brainer to do this. It may even get fast tracked to capitalize on the fan interest right now,” the source said.

However, Carrie’s packed schedule may complicate things. As reported by Life & Style, “all of 2025 is going to be absolutely packed” for the singer.

“Being a judge on Idol is going to be such a nerve wracking experience, that would be enough to handle on its own, but on top of that she has all kinds of gigs lined up plus her residency in Las Vegas, it’s hard to imagine how she’ll pull it all off,” said the source.

They added: “And of course, beyond just being exhausting for her it’s also going to mean more time apart from Mike,” referring to her husband, former NHL player Mike Fisher, 44.

The couple shares sons Isaiah and Jacob. “It’s going to be a huge juggling act. She feels confident she can handle it, but people do worry she’s taking on too much.”
