A woman is mourning the loss of her husband and one year old son who were tragically killed while crossing a road in Jacksonville, Florida.

Mitchell Patch and his young son Everett were struck by a Honda Civic on Baymeadows Road at 8:30 p.m. on May 16, leaving behind their devastated wife and mother, Mary Patch.

This heartbreaking incident comes shortly after TikTok sensation Preston Ordone tragically passed away at the tender age of two in a car accident. Louisiana State Police reported that young Preston was fatally injured while riding with his parents, Katelynn and Jaelen Ordone, when their vehicle unexpectedly "veered" off the road and collided with a tree. The crash claimed Preston's life, while his parents suffered severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene and pronounced the man and his child dead, according to a post by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office on Facebook. The driver of the Honda Civic was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is cooperating with authorities in their ongoing investigation, reports the Mirror US.

"Our hearts are with the family and friends of the man and his child," the sheriff's office expressed in a statement to People magazine.

He was a dedicated educator and well-loved and respected member of our Brave family."

The statement read: "Our sympathies go out to Mr. Patch's family, friends, and our entire school community during this difficult time. I am deeply saddened, and I know the students, staff and family members who knew Mr. Patch will miss him tremendously."

Patch had been at a party earlier that evening and was holding his son when the car struck as they crossed the street.

A fundraising campaign has been launched to help with funeral expenses, medical bills, and other costs.

The fundraising page states: "Mary is a dedicated and hardworking member of our team, and now, it's our turn to show her how much we care and support her."
