Russian President Vladimir Putin swiftly exited an interview to speak with U.S. President Donald Trump.

A video that emerged online shows Putin amid a panel interview with a packed crowd, informing them that he needs to leave to speak with Trump or risks upsetting him.

"Please don't be angry, I understand that we could talk more, but it's so awkward to make [Trump] wait, he could get offended. Thank you very much, good luck," Putin told the crowd.

President Trump announced Thursday morning on Truth Social that he would be speaking with Putin at 10 a.m. Thursday.

It is the sixth known time that the two leaders have spoken since Trump resumed office in January, with the last time being mid-June for Trump's 79th birthday, according to Reuters.

The pair spoke for nearly an hour, primarily about the Ukraine war, according to Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov.

Ushakov claimed that Trump brought up concerns about ending military operations prematurely while adding that Putin is still searching for a political solution to address "root causes" of the conflict, namely the Kremlin's opposition to NATO expansion and Western support for Ukraine.

"Russia will pursue its goals and will not back down from them, Putin told Trump," Ushakov said.

The discussion comes after reports emerged about President Trump having a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday. Zelensky is currently meeting with Danish King Frederik X, who has clashed with Trump overthe administration's repeated threats to annex Greenland.

The call also comes after the White House confirmed that the U.S. halted a weapons shipment to Kyiv to the ire of Zelensky.

The shipment included precise munitions and air defense systems, which are critical for Kyiv's fight against Moscow as it moves to encroach on a key buffer zone as hope for a ceasefire fades.

Putin celebrated Washington's move, though now Zelensky is reportedly considering other options to obtain weapons as the war between Ukraine and Russia carries into its third year.

It is likely that Zelensky is discussing a third-party arms deal with European leaders to circumvent the Washington weapons shipment cancelation, Politico reports.
