Bryson DeChambeau has revealed how Tiger Woods advised him on the importance of mental preparation when competing at the highest level.

DeChambeau has become one of the biggest and most popular names in golf in recent years. Having given up his playing rights on the PGA Tour back in 2022, DeChambeau joined the likes of Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, and Dustin Johnson in making the move to LIV Golf.

Since then, the Crushers' captain has become arguably the league’s biggest star. He made his mark on the big stage once more when he pipped Rory McIlroy to win his second U.S. Open at Pinehurst last June.

Known for his big-hitting expertise and scientific approach to the game, DeChambeau is a rarity in the sport. To go alongside his impressive talents, the two-time major winner has also proven his own mental strength, especially when down the stretch at Pinehurst last summer.

Away from the golf, DeChambeau is a motorsport fan too, and the 31-year-old had some advice for drivers by passing down the knowledge of arguably the greatest golfer of all time in Woods. “It’s finding your bubble, finding your zone,” the U.S. Open champion told The Athletic.

“Tiger (Woods) talked about it to me a lot. He said, ‘You’ve got to build your bubble and nothing enters it. You’re there. You’re fully in control.’ I think that’s the same when you’re in the car: You’re in control. You’re right here. You’re right now. Execute. That’s important.”

Once a controversial figure on the PGA Tour, DeChambeau is now as popular as ever, and one contributing factor to the change in opinion is the success of his YouTube channel. The LIV man boasts just short of two million subscribers on the platform, having linked up with the likes of Donald Trump and Tom Brady.

And discussing this ahead of this week’s Indy 500, DeChambeau believes some drivers could follow in his footsteps to bolster their names and the sport. “One, people see the authentic side of me. That’s really important,” he explained.

“Two, it’s a great way to connect with people. Three, I think there is a movement happening in the media space where things are starting to move in that direction.

“I do believe drivers have an opportunity to showcase the skill sets they have on the track a little bit more freely. Hopefully, they can do that. That’s a way to get people more involved in the action and what goes on behind the scenes a little bit, but also just being themselves and creating cool content.

“I think people misinterpret ‘behind the scenes’ to [mean] ‘cool, entertaining, fun content.’ There’s a difference between the two of them. The behind-the-scenes stuff is awesome, and there’s a place for it.”
