Dale Earnhardt Jr. 'sad' after unexpected trip down NASCAR memory lane
NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. was left feeling "sad" after recently being sent for a trip down memory lane.
NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. has admitted he was left feeling sad after learning it had been 11 years since his 2014 Pocono 400 Cup Series win.
2014 saw the NASCAR Hall of Famer take the lead at Pocono Raceway with just five laps to go after he passed Brad Keselowski, who had to drop back in an effort to remove trash on his grill.
Recently, the 50-year-old, who is now part of Amazon Prime's racing coverage, was reminded that last Sunday, it was 11 years to the day he was left celebrating his win in Pennsylvania.

Taking to X, Earnhardt Jr. wrote: "11 years???? No! I'm sad now. Damnit. Was a fun year though. And what a good looking car. Ok I'm good."
The trip down memory lane sparked plenty of reminiscence in for a host of NASCAR fans on social media. "I was there! Took this pic when i was like 7 years old! It was my first ever NASCAR race.. incredible," wrote one user, attaching the photo of Earnhardt Jr. racing past him in the No. 88 Chevrolet.
"I was there that day! When you took the lead from Brad with 5 to go the place ERUPTED! Screaming the last 5 laps! Definitely a moment I’ll never forget," added another.
A third wrote: "The excitement I felt watching that race as a 20 year old will never be replicated by any other driver. Thanks for the memories Dale."
And a fourth added: "The first time I saw that scheme I was on the fence, but seeing it on the track completely flipped my lid. It looked fast and slick, and the turned gold numbers just popped."
Having left NBC Sports to join Amazon Prime's race coverage, Earnhardt Jr. is now part of their broadcast booth, serving as an analyst alongside race caller Adam Alexander and former NASCAR crew chief Steve Letarte.
