Amazon Prime Video gets worrying NASCAR TV ratings update after rain-delayed Pocono
A rainy Sunday derailed the NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono and dented Amazon Prime Video's ratings for its last race of the 2025 season.
The 2025 Great American Getaway 400 at the Pocono Raceway got off to a wet start on Sunday, prompting the race to be delayed over two hours from its original 2 pm start time.
The rain and weather delays, along with the concurrent news that the United States was engaged in airstrikes against Iran, dampened the previously sunny ratings Amazon Prime Video was enjoying for the NASCAR Cup Series.
1.869 million viewers tuned in, a drop from last year's 2.391 million - which came the day after the assassination attempt of then U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump - and 2.10 million last week in Mexico City.

Still, there were some positive signs from the weekend in Pennsylvania. 1.120 million turned in to watch teenager Connor Zilisch win Saturday's Xfinity Series Explore the Pocono Mountains 250.
Additionally, Jeff Gluck reported that 43 percent of the race audience stuck around post-race to watch the streaming giant's studio show featuring guest appearances from former NFL stars Ryan Fitzpatrick and Andrew Whitworth.

Now, the NASCAR Cup Series will move from Amazon Prime Video to TNT. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will make the jump, but still was melancholic when asked to reflect.
“I knew [our time with Amazon] would be quick, Earnhardt Jr. said. “It’s going to be — it’s bittersweet, because it’s been a great experience for me. Working with you guys has been fun. The whole team, really, has been really good. One race to go and then us three will move on to TNT.”
Chase Briscoe edged his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin in Sunday's Cup Series race for his first win of the season. "I’ve just been like this huge weight on my shoulders, unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before,” he said of his feelings entering the race.

"Literally, when I was doing my contract with JGR, I remember them showing me the stat thing about how about out of 40 attempts for Playoffs, they have made it 38 times. The expectation is if you don’t make the playoffs, you’re not going to be in this car anymore."
“It’s nice to be locked into the playoffs, especially with the races coming up," Briscoe concluded. "So many wild cards in there.”
