Everything we know about Coco Gauff's boyfriend after Ben Shelton rumors
Coco Gauff has had a boyfriend since 2023, with the U.S. tennis star shutting down Ben Shelton dating rumors with a telling revelation about her partner.
American tennis star Coco Gauff has a boyfriend, Jalen Sera, who she has been dating since 2023 — putting rumors of a romance with Ben Shelton to bed. Gauff, 21, and Shelton, 22, were spotted out and about in Melbourne earlier this year, fueling dating rumors.
However, the tennis stars have been longtime friends, and there's nothing more to the rumors of a potential romance. Gauff has been in a relationship with Sera since 2023 and has supported his girlfriend's career.
Sera, from Atlanta, hasn't been seen publicly with Gauff, but he has used his Instagram to support the 2023 U.S. Open winner. "Warrior," Sera wrote while sharing Gauff's after after her epic three-set victory in the Italian Open semifinals against Qinwen Zheng.

In March, Sera reposted Gauff's red carpet look from this year's Oscars. "Regal," he wrote. And while Gauff has remained tight-lipped over their romance, she did post a picture of the couple standing next to each other in November 2024.
In the pictures, there were several photos with friends at the Camp Flog Gnaw music festival in Los Angeles, which was created by artist Tyler, The Creator, who DM'd her following her 2023 maiden Grand Slam. "That was really cool. I was not expecting it," Gauff told reporters at WTA Finals last year. "It was crazy because he DM'd me congratulations over China Open [which Gauff won October 6]. We never talked or anything before. He liked my photo or something when I won [the] U.S. Open."
Gauff added: "Then my boyfriend is like, 'Watch, he's going to drop you in a song.' I was like, 'Yeah, that would be insane. That's never going to happen.' Three weeks later, it happened. I was like, 'Can he see into the future or what?'"
Gauff also confirmed that her other half was not actively involved in tennis, further shutting down the Shelton rumors. The U.S. No. 1 enjoys having a different perspective outside of sport.
"To just have someone to talk to who is not involved in tennis at all gives me a fresh perspective," Gauff told Time magazine in April. Gauff is on the charge in search of a second singles Slam.
DON'T MISS
After a tough year, Gauff is slowly returning to her best. She turned in underwhelming performances at Indian Wells and the Miami Open but made back-to-back finals at the Spanish and Italian Open. Gauff lost both finals, but she has regained her confidence in Roland-Garros.
Gauff is into the third round against Marie Bouzkova and won't face Aryna Sabalenka or Iga Swiatek until the final, should she get there. "I think just accepting the highs and lows. I think sometimes in sports you want to just stay on the high and kind of ride that wave, but especially with this sport, a season as long as tennis, it's impossible to always be on that high wave, and there's going to be some low moments, I think," she said to the Roland-Garros website before the tournament.
"Just trying to stick through those tough moments and get better through them. Not feeling like the rest of the season is going to go that way. I feel like I'm able to turn it around. It's happened before. I think it just takes one match or two matches to kind of get that confidence back."
