Novak Djokovic couldn't resist taking a playful jab at Aryna Sabalenka's infamous grunt during a pre-Wimbledon practice.

The jest came as both tennis stars were warming up at the All England Club, with Sabalenka fresh off her vacation and both athletes preparing for the demanding grass-court Grand Slam.

While the tournament is a blend of stamina, skill, power, and experience, Djokovic and Sabalenka are eyeing the championship, which requires two weeks of intense play.

However, with days still left before the competition, the pair enjoyed some light-hearted moments during their Wednesday practice session, where Djokovic playfully challenged the women's world No. 1.

Despite conserving energy for the upcoming matches, Sabalenka was hitting with such vigor that her loud grunts echoed across the court. The Serb quipped: "That [grunt] would be a hindrance on the ATP Tour."

Overhearing Djokovic's comment, Sabalenka retorted with a humorous, "I thought we were friends?" indicating the friendly rapport between the two champions.

Djokovic and Sabalenka, along with their teams, had a sideline chat for about 30 minutes after their practice session. The Guardian reports that Djokovic spent much of the conversation inquiring about Sabalenka's career and offering words of encouragement.

Sabalenka, however, doesn't need much pep talk. The Belarusian has been on a roll this year, despite losses in several finals that could have made her season even more impressive.

She scored major victories at the Brisbane International, Miami Open, and Madrid Open, while also making it to the finals of the Australian Open, Indian Wells, Boss Open, and French Open.

DON'T MISS

Djokovic hasn't been as active. The Serbian player has significantly reduced his tournament schedule, which has resulted in him slipping to sixth in the men's world rankings.

However, with seven Wimbledon titles to his name and a recent run to the semi-finals of this year's French Open, Djokovic, like Sabalenka, will be a formidable opponent at SW19.
