Summer is a very popular travel season, so it’s important to know what is and isn’t allowed on popular forms of public transportation.

Three items are banned from being brought on Greyhound buses for customers, even if they’re stored under the bus.

In order to protect its staff and passengers on buses, Greyhound has multiple items banned.

What items are banned on a Greyhound bus?

One of those banned items is alcohol, as passengers are not able to bring, drink, or store it onboard. The company stated that it is even prohibited from being packed in luggage.

“Absolutely no alcohol, drugs or weapons anywhere on the bus (including in your under the bus baggage),” Greyhound wrote on its website.

Alcohol is banned on Greyhound buses, so everyone on the bus, the driver, and the passengers, remains safe and secure during their ride.

Alcohol can create loud or rowdy situations, which is a big no-no according to Greyhound.

“No unruly behavior on the bus. No shouting, being loud, or generally disturbing the driver or other passengers. Just chill out, be nice and enjoy the ride,” Greyhound wrote on its website.

Another item banned aboard Greyhound includes any illegal substances. This includes marijuana, depending on the state you live in.

This is to ensure that everyone on the bus is safe and on their best behavior.

The last item banned on Greyhound buses includes any hazardous materials or weapons.

This includes firearms, guns, self-defense items, flammable materials, and more.

"Bringing prohibited items onto a Greyhound bus can result in serious consequences, including the confiscation of the items, fines, or even legal action," the company stated.

“It is essential that you are aware of these restrictions."

If a passenger brings any of these items onboard, they can be removed from the bus.

A Greyhound ticket ensures each passenger gets space for one stored bag and one carry-on bag.
