Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Dwight Eubanks has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, he has revealed.

His diagnosis came after a routine blood screening at a health fair held by his church in January. Although Eubanks felt healthy and experienced no symptoms, a follow-up prostate-specific antigen test confirmed the presence of prostate cancer.

Reflecting on his diagnosis, Eubanks, 64, opened up about his initial reaction to the news. He shared, “I was shocked. I was angry. I was just emotionally a wreck.”

"When you hear the word cancer, you freak out. I'm human," he told PEOPLE. "Society has told us that cancer was just devastating and, you know, you just have days to live. So of course I freaked out and I think I'm still freaked out."

Fans also shared their support and well wishes across social media. One user on Reddit wrote, “Hoping he is okay soon.”

Despite the initial shock of his diagnosis, the reality TV star remains optimistic and focused on his health. Looking ahead, he is actively collaborating with his medical team to determine the most effective treatment path.

“I have a great team, about four different doctors: two urologists, another specialist and my family physician," he shared. "So I'm comfortable and I'm forever grateful to have such a team and support. And we are going to figure it out.”

Aside from his on-screen career, the star is an entrepreneur and celebrity hairstylist. He was born on March 17, 1959, in Georgia. In 1990, Eubanks opened the Purple Door Salon, a venture that has become a cornerstone of his career.

However, his work extends beyond hairstyling as he has been involved in organizing and judging major events like the Bronner Bros. International Beauty Show, often referred to as "hairdresser's fashion week."

Dwight first carved out his TV career after being a recurring guest on The Real Housewives of Atlanta (otherwise known as RHOA) and has appeared on several seasons of Bravo's Married to Medicine.

Beyond the screen, he is committed to community service. He has partnered with organizations like SisterLove Inc. to promote HIV/AIDS awareness and safe sex practices.

He also authored an autobiography, Life Be Imagined: Autobiography of Sex, Religion, & Power, released in 2022.
