Netflix's latest documentary peels back the layers on the tragic OceanGate expedition that ended in five deaths.

The vessel abruptly lost touch with its support team merely 90 minutes into the voyage and was eventually located only 1,600 feet away from the Titanic.
OceanGate's CEO, Stockton Rush, is central to this harrowing tale and sadly takes center stage in the film.
According to the film's outline: "This new documentary examines OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, his quest to become the next billionaire innovator, and the doomed underwater endeavour that forced the world to reconsider the price of ambition in the depths of the ocean."
Adding to the intrigue, Netflix reveals: "Through exclusive access to whistle-blower testimony, pivotal audio recordings, and footage from the company's early days, the film provides an unprecedented look at the technical challenges, moral dilemmas, and shockingly poor decisions that culminated in the catastrophic expedition."
Titan is quickly becoming a critical success, earning praise on social media as "one of the most exciting documentaries of this year."

Gazettely, an online movie publication, has awarded the documentary a four-star accolade, praising it as "a meticulously constructed and chilling documentary, Titan: The OceanGate Disaster serves as a compelling autopsy of a tragedy foretold."
Their analysis goes on to describe: "While it focuses squarely on its central villain, the film is a powerful and unsettling examination of a modern cautionary tale, making for essential, if grim, viewing."
Elsewhere, cinema critic Danielle Solzman extolled the film's virtues and underscored its message.
"It's too early to say if Titan: The OceanGate Disaster will be one of the best documentaries at the end of the year, but this film should serve as a warning. A warning for any CEO who decides to take the ruthless route. They decided to ignore the advice of engineers," they commented.
While the exact details surrounding the events on board the Titan remain cloaked in mystery, Director Mark Monroe is optimistic his film will illuminate the period leading to the catastrophe.
"There was no context for what could have happened to those onboard, and the only touchpoint was the Titanic, a story that's now become a grim fairy tale.
"The more I dug into this terrible tragedy, the more intrigued I became about how this could have ever happened in the first place, and who exactly was the man who built and then went down with this ship. We hope that this film can help provide answers to these very questions," he divulged during a Tudum interview.
Titan: The OceanGate Disaster is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
