American Idol fans say finale will be ‘best in years’ as guest performers announced
American Idol fans are praising the show's decision to incorporate gospel music into the finale.
American Idol fans may not have been impressed with the gospel-themed Easter special a few weeks ago, but they seem to have changed their tune when it comes to gospel performers taking to the stage in the upcoming Season 23 finale.
Carrie Underwood, who enjoyed a small getaway ahead of the big finale episode, faced criticism after it was revealed she was a heavy force behind the prior Gospel-themed episode, which allegedly had those working behind the scenes concerned she was “ruining” the show’s reputation.
And as fans also called her out for being “boring,” it appeared that the idea to incorporate more gospel into the show was destined to stay in the past.

However, that has proven not to be the case, as three different gospel acts are slated to perform on the Season 23 finale–The War and Treaty, Kirk Franklin, and Brandon Lake.
And while initially the gospel music was slammed, it appears many fans have since changed their tune.
As the show revealed the individual singers and acts, fans took to social media to share that they were actually excited by the reveals.
“Great choice! Let’s GOOOOO!!” one wrote on an Instagram post announcing The War and Treaty.
“This is too good!!! Welcome back on Sunday,” another wrote on a post about Lake.
However, a post about Franklin’s participation elicited the most reaction.
“This is going to be the BEST finale in Years,” one person wrote.
“Maaannn ion care what nobody say American Idol ain’t been this good since @fantasia won,” another commented.
“Makes sense…This season was literally Sundays Best,” a third said.
“I’m so glad American Idol accepted the Lord Jesus Christ to be its savior this season," a fourth added.
