The View's Sunny Hostin predicts Diddy wanted to testify despite team's wishes
Lawyer and View host Sunny Hostin says she believes Sean 'Diddy' Combs wanted to defend himself in court despite his legal team not permitting a testimony
Defense attorney Sunny Hostin revealed on The View that she believes Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was eager to testify in his sex-trafficking and racketeering case following the news that there will be no testimony from him or any witnesses.
Hostin, who has sat in the courtroom for a large majority of the high-profile trial in New York City, said that he appeared to be desperate to get involved in the trial despite his defense team’s wishes.
Kicking off the show’s daily Hot Topics session, co-host Joy Behar asked Hostin her thoughts as his trial is expected to come to a close in the upcoming days. Combs continues to defend his innocence.

Hostin explained: “I think it’s very interesting that this defense team decided not to call any witnesses…that tells me that they think the prosecution proved the defense's case.”
“95% of federal prosecutions end in a conviction, there’s a very high conviction rate. But when defendants testify, the conviction rate goes up even higher. So, I’m not surprised that Sean Combs didn’t testify.
“Although, I believe that he wanted to,” she predicted. “He was a very engaged defendant. He was passing sticky notes around, he even got admonished by the judge for nodding to the jury.”
She also speculated that he seems like ‘the kind of guy who thinks he can get on the witness stand and charm the jury into believing that he didn’t do some of the things he’s alleged to have done.’
Behar cut in, asking: “If he gets off the hook, do you think he’ll make a comeback?”

Hostin predicted that it would be ‘very difficult’ saying: “I don’t think he’ll get off the hook on everything. I don’t think the prosecution has proven racketeering, I don’t think the prosecution has proven sex-trafficking.”
“But in terms of taking prostitutes across state lines to engage in prostitution…I think there’s pretty clear evidence of that. But that’s like–the max is 10 years.”
“This is just a very interesting case because I don’t think the jury is buying what the prosecution is selling,” she predicted.
This comes as federal prosecutors prepare to rest their case with the hopes that over they've provided enough evidence in these past six weeks of trial to convince the jury to convict.
