Squid Game fans are in agreement with the show's creator after he suggested the Netflix villains resemble Elon Musk.
With the final series having been released earlier this week, Hwang Dong-hyuk is opening up about the characters. In a new interview, he admitted it was difficult not to compare the VIPs, rich spectators of the deadly games, to the Tesla founder.
"Elon Musk is everywhere these days, right? Everybody talks about him. Not only is he the head of a huge tech company that controls the world almost, but he’s also this showman," Hwang said.

Speaking to Time, the Squid Game creator added, "After writing [Season 3], of course I thought, ‘Oh, some of the VIPs do kind of resemble Elon Musk.’"
Netflix viewers have been responding to Hwang's remarks, with many agreeing with him. "This explains why i hated the VIPs in the show," one person wrote on Reddit.
Another person warned, "Ope..... somebody's feefees are gonna be hurt."
Over on X, someone else added, "I watched this yesterday and I thought the same...olus sime other tech bros and gals."
In the first two seasons of Squid Game, the VIPs simply watch the deadly drama unfold. In the final season, however, they decide to get involved with the games.
Hwang said, "They take their masks off and go into the game and kill others with their own hands."

Hwang revealed the decision to get the VIPs involved in the murders was inspired by the current political climate in America.
"In the past, those that really controlled the system and maintained power, they were hidden behind the curtain, almost like this big unseen conspiracy," he said.

Hwang continued, "However, it’s no longer the case, especially in America. We talk a lot about oligarchy these days, but these so-called big tech owners, they step up, telling everyone who they’re backing with their money.
"The people who really control the power and the system, they no longer hide behind a curtain. They willingly take their masks off, almost as if to declare, ‘We’re the ones running everything. We’re the ones in control."
