A witness has described terrifying scenes in Liverpool after a car collided with fans celebrating their team's Premier League victory.

Reports indicate numerous people were struck by the vehicle. Police are set to hold a press conference at 5.30pm ET (10.30pm local time). Natasha Rinaldi shared her harrowing experience with Sky News: "We saw the parade from my friend's living room by her window. People were having a great time.

"Then we heard some screams, we heard screams. It was so loud. People sounded desperate.

"Then we heard some screams, we heard screams. It was so loud. People sounded desperate.

"We could just hear screams and screams."

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We are currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city center.

"We were contacted at just after 6 pm today, Monday 26 May, following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street. The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained. Emergency services are currently on the scene. We will issue more updates as we have them."

A representative for the North West Ambulance Service said: "NWAS is supporting an incident in Liverpool city center, following reports of a road traffic collision.

"We are currently assessing the situation and working with other members of the emergency services. Our priority is to ensure people receive the medical help they need as quickly as possible.

"Updates will be published on this page and Mersey Police as we know more."

Police have called on the public not to "speculate about the circumstances of the incident" or share "distressing content online," They request that any footage of the event be sent directly to law enforcement.
