'Emotional' Trump shows kindness to Ukrainian reporter with personal questions
Donald Trump was asked about the US providing Patriot missiles to Ukraine at a press conference following the NATO summit today and appeared to stumble and ask the reporter about her personal life
In a press conference today, President Donald Trump fielded questions from the media following the NATO summit, addressing escalating global conflicts.
During a news briefing, Trump engaged in a back-and-forth with a Ukrainian reporter, asking her several personal questions before answering her query about potentially supplying Patriot missiles to Ukraine. "Where are you from?" he asked after commenting, "She's all excited."
He proceeded to ask about the woman's family, their residence, and her profession. He referred to her husband's role as a Ukrainian soldier as "rough stuff" before responding to her question.

"So let me just tell you they want to have the anti-missiles missiles, as they call them -the Patriots. We're going to see if we can make some available. They are very hard to get. We need them too; we were supplying them to Israel. They are very effective. 100 percent effective. Hard to believe how effective. They do want them more than any other thing," Trump stated.
He later complimented the woman, saying she had posed a good question and wished her luck, noting that he could tell the war was deeply "upsetting" to her. "Say hello to your husband," he concluded.
A video of the exchange, shared on X, ignited a wave of criticism from social media users. "Was she an attractive blonde? Seems to be how Trump makes decisions," one X account commented. Another added: "Trump's problem is that face to face, he tells everyone 'Yes'...and then can't follow through.
"Trump at NATO is like reruns of a bad reality show, griping like it's Festivus, bragging like he invented defense, and insulting allies like he's hosting Roast Night at the UN," one observer quipped.
World leaders gathered in The Hague for a NATO summit, where they discussed the United States' role in the ongoing conflict. They agreed to a target of increasing defense spending to 5% of GDP by 2035, a move that came in response to Trump's demands.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his team expressed interest in discussing the purchase of U.S. weaponry, including Patriot missile defense systems and ramping up sanctions against Moscow.

However, controversy has arisen over the rehtoric of the NATO declaration. Some reports suggest that the alliance has toned down its stance on Russia to appease Trump.
The statement released on Wednesday underscores NATO's unity "in the face of significant security threats and challenges, especially the enduring threat posed by Russia to Euro-Atlantic security. While it reiterated its support for Ukraine, it falls short of outright condemnation of the Russian invasion.
