Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky says the country has proof Russia is preparing new military operations in Europe.

"We are observing a continued intellectual decline within the Russian leadership and have evidence that they are preparing new military operations on European territory," Zelensky wrote on X.

"We will keep our partners informed of the facts obtained by our intelligence services. We are preparing joint decisions for defense, in particular with the United Kingdom and the European Union."

The president continued that Ukraine is aware of Russia’s “key vulnerabilities” and will act accordingly to “defend our state and people.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday that “all of Ukraine” is Russian territory, which Kyiv refuted.

Ukrainian intelligence also warned in May that Russia may launch aggression against Europe, the Kyiv Independent reported. EU diplomats have called for preparations for a potential full-scale conflict between NATO and Russia.

In June, the UK announced it’s largest spending increase on its military since the Cold War over the potential for "the war in Europe.”

Putin has insisted that Ukraine cede control of four southern regions, which he asserts are Russian territory, despite only partial occupation by his forces.

The Russian leader conceded he doesn't "rule out" the idea of targeting Sumy, a northeastern Ukrainian city close to the Russian border, although he stated it's not an immediate military goal. He proclaimed in a statement: "We have to create a security zone along the border."

On Friday, Russia carried out a massive air strike on Odesa, killing one and injuring at least 14 others. This action occurred just hours after Putin professed a desire for peace and offered to engage in one-to-one talks, including with Zelensky, though he simultaneously undermined Zelensky's authority by stating he had no right to sign any peace agreements.

Civilian casualties in Ukraine have shockingly increased by 50% this year, as per the United Nations. "Civilians across Ukraine have faced a devastating year, with significantly more deaths and injuries than during the same period in 2024," said Danielle Bell from the UN.
