How did Freddie cross paths with his child's mother?

Freddie experienced several romantic connections with both men and women, notably Mary Austin. They initially locked eyes when she was a mere 19 and he 24, preceding his climb to superstardom.

Freddie and Mary shared a home and even got engaged before Freddie disclosed he was gay. While they didn't have children together, Mary did have two sons with a later partner, yet stayed close to Freddie till his dying day.

Freddie's love life in the early '80s included a fling with Austrian star Barbara Valentin, but it was another affair, with a woman whose identity remained hushed, that produced his child.

His daughter B breaks her silence in a poignant note

Within the book, his daughter, known only as B, unveils her identity through a handwritten letter. It divulges: "Freddie Mercury was and is my father. We had a very close and loving relationship from the moment I was born and throughout the final 15 years of his life."

She confesses, "He adored me and was devoted to me. The circumstances of my birth may seem, by most people's standards, unusual and even outrageous.

"That should come as no surprise. It never detracted from his commitment to love and look after me. He cherished me like a treasured possession," the note disclosed to Daily Mail revealed.

Jones was contacted by B three years prior, harboring initial doubts about the claim. "My instinct was to doubt everything, but I am absolutely sure she is not a fantasist," Jones admitted.

The question arises: Did Freddie play a role in raising his clandestine daughter?

The writer asserted that B has never sought financial gain nor public acknowledgment. She clarified that B wasn't included in Freddie's will; rather, she benefited from a confidential legal agreement designed to maintain secrecy.

"His only child was conceived accidentally with the wife of one of his closest friends, while his friend was away on an extended business trip. For the Roman Catholic mother, abortion was out of the question," Jones shared with the outlet.

Jones described Freddie as a "hands-on devoted dad" who considered fatherhood the "greatest blessing of his life" She detailed that it was agreed B would reside with her mother and stepfather, yet Freddie would have a dedicated room at their house. The trio, along with Freddie, co-parented B, with Freddie keeping in daily contact with his daughter during tours.

As for why Freddie's daughter is coming forward now, B expressed in a letter featured in the book: "After more than three decades of lies, speculation and distortion, it is time to let Freddie speak.

"Those who have been aware of my existence kept his greatest secret out of loyalty to Freddie. That I choose to reveal myself in my own midlife is my decision and mine alone."
