The winner of Survivor season 48 has been crowned and took home the $1 million dollar cash prize. Find out everything you need to know about the winner
Survivor Season 48 has a new champion.
The CBS reality competition series wrapped up on Thursday, May 21. The episode kicked off with contestants Joe Hunter, Eva Erickson, Kyle Fraser, Kamilla Karthigesu, and Mitch Guerra battling it out in two immunity challenges. The competition then narrowed down to three contestants (Kyle, Joe, and Eva) who had to make their case to a jury of eight eliminated cast members.
Kyle emerged as the winner of the $1 million dollar cash prize, securing five jury votes. Eva came in second with two votes, while Joe received one vote. Host Jeff Probst noted that it was unusual for all three finalists to receive votes from the jury, reports the Mirror US.
Kyle is a 31-year-old attorney based in Brooklyn, New York, originally hailing from Roanoke, Virginia. He has been married to Maggie Turner since 2024.
Throughout his time on the show, Kyle was open about his past incarceration for non-violent misdemeanors during his youth and kept his profession under wraps. According to Entertainment Weekly, Kyle also taught a GED and history/humanities class at a juvenile detention center.
In his Survivor bio, he shared that the accomplishment he's most proud of was during his second year of law school when he successfully argued and won a jury trial on behalf of his juvenile client facing felony charges.
Kyle's hobbies were listed as including, playing with his dogs, tending to house plants, and hitting the gym, but his pet peeves are "uppity people/those who look down on others" and Styrofoam. He dreams of becoming a "successful author" one day and holds his older brother in high regard as his biggest inspiration for being his "consistent rock" in his family through the tough times.
Before clinching the win, Kyle shared his reason for why he'll be the Sole Survivor: "For a multitude of reasons, I have been forced to interact with many different types of people in many different environments. I'm a people person with diverse experiences. It should help."
He emphasized his "people person" identity in an interview with Parade just two days before setting foot in Fiji, highlighting a "people first" strategy where forging robust relationships took precedence over accumulating challenge victories or advantages.
True to his word, during season 48 of the show, Kyle demonstrated his sociability by being an integral part of a majority alliance with Joe and Eva while also secretly collaborating with Kamilla, leading to some major game moves, including voting out Shauhin.
