CNN exposes lack of confidence in Trump's trade policies among American voters
New polling data shows that most Americans think the President has no 'clear plan' when it comes to his trade policies - despite Trump's claims to the contrary.
CNN has embarrassed Donald Trump by exposing startling statistics about American perceptions of the President's tariff strategies.
On Sunday, Trump announced the delay of a 50 percent tariff on European Union imports from June 1 to July 9, buying time for negotiations.
The postponement followed a discussion with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who, according to Trump, expressed a desire for "wants to get down to serious negotiations."

"I told anybody that would listen, they have to do that," Trump declared to the press on Sunday in Morristown, New Jersey, as he was set to head back to Washington. Trump said von der Leyen promised to "rapidly get together and see if we can work something out."
However, CNN highlighted that following Trump's repeated interruptions and alterations to tariffs with various nations, fresh polling data reveals that most Americans feel the President lacks a "clear plan" for his trade agendas.
Despite assertions from the President and his team that the goal is to motivate firms to relocate manufacturing to the US, CNN political correspondent Harry Enten noted that the electorate remains "confused."
The journalist shared polling insights, stating, "Trump: a clear plan for tariffs and trade - the majority answer here is no. No, Donald Trump does not have a clear plan for tariffs and trade.
"This is the one thing that perturbs voters and the markets more than anything else. It's not whether or not you put tariffs on or not. It's whether you're going to actually do it and stick to your guns."

He added, "The American public does not believe that Donald Trump sticks to his guns. Fifty-five percent say no, he does not have a clear plan for trades and tariffs; and I will note, of course, the center of the electorate - the all-important independent vote - 64% of independents say no, Donald Trump does not have a clear plan for trade and tariffs."
Referencing CBS News/YouGov data, Harry remarked, "As Donald Trump's presidency goes on, the American people think he's becoming less clear over time."
He also highlighted that the Trade Policy Uncertainty Index shows an enormous 846% rise in public uncertainty compared to last year.
Harry informed his audience, "We just are consistently breaking records this year, whereby it seems the further along we go, the more uncertainty there is in terms of the trade policy in this country."
Trump took to social media on Friday, threatening a 50% tariff on EU goods and venting that the EU had been "very difficult to deal with" in trade talks, stating negotiations were "going nowhere."
The tariffs were set to take effect from June 1, but following a conversation with von der Leyen, Trump altered his stance, declaring, "I agreed to the extension - July 9, 2025 - It was my privilege to do so."
On the other side, von der Leyen remarked that the EU and the US maintain "share the world's most consequential and close trade relationship," and emphasized, "Europe is ready to advance talks swiftly and decisively. To reach a good deal, we would need the time until July 9."
