Alexa Ray Joel, daughter of Billy Joel, has said her father "continues to regain his strength" as he deals with a terrifying brain disorder.

The 76-year-old music icon recently revealed he has been diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), which has been affecting his hearing, vision and balance.

On his Instagram, a statement was released stating, "Billy Joel has announced that he will be cancelling all scheduled concerts following a recent diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance."

Billy has been advised by doctors against performing, as it could negatively impact his health. He is currently receiving treatment,

The announcement added, "Under his doctor's instructions, Billy is undergoing physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period. Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritising his health. He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage."

Billy also expressed his regret to his fans directly, saying, "I'm sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding."

According to clevelandclinic.org, "Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) is a condition that happens when cerebrospinal fluid builds up inside your skull and presses on your brain. This condition is most likely in people over 65. It's often treatable and sometimes even reversible."

Billy's health update led to the cancellation of his tour, which included stops across North America and England.

The 39-year-old shared an emotional message alongside a painted image of a father-daughter duo on Instagram, "SOUND UP. We love you and we got you, Pop!"

Alexa expressed, "I just wanted to thank you all for the beautiful outpouring of love and support amid the recent news of My Father's health diagnosis."

Highlighting her father's unwavering spirit, she said, "My Dad is the strongest and most resilient man I've ever known ... and he's entirely committed to making a full recovery with ongoing physical-therapy treatments as he continues to regain his strength."

She addressed the overwhelming response from well-wishers, "The genuine care, empathy, and concern from everyone means so much to him ... it means a lot to me, too."

In wrapping up her post, Alexa brought attention to the poignant lyrics from Billy's 1993 song Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel), a tune written for her by her father.

She quoted, "Someday We'll All Be Gone / But Lullabies Go On And On / They Never Die / That's How You And I Will Be."

She closed her update with a positive note, "The music continues... All My Love, Alexa Ray."

Christie Brinkley has also spoken out about Billy's condition. Despite their divorce in 1994, the former flames have maintained a good relationship.

Christie took to social media to share a video of her and Alexa attending one of Billy's recent concerts.

In the caption, she wrote, "Dear Billy, the whole Brinkley gang is sending you lots of love and good wishes for a full and speedy recovery. I was looking for some cute photos of you and Alexa to send you, when I came across this clip from a recent concert."

She said the footage "reminded me of all the joy you create."

Christine concluded, "I’m sure I’m speaking for everyone in that room when I say please take good care of yourself, we all want you back in that white hot spotlight,you’re OUR piano man. And we’re always in the mood for your melodies And we all hope you’re feeling alright! We Love You, the kids, me and an arena or two!"
